Patient Instructions
  1. 1Stop blood thinners (ASA, clopidogrel, abixaban, rivaroxaban, edoxaban, dabigatran) prior to surgery as per specified days.
  2. 2Check with office for coumadin (Warfarin) restart time.
  3. 3Adjust diabetes medications (Insulin, empagliflozin, semaglutide injection, semaglutide oral) prior to surgery as per specified days.
  4. 4Check with office/surgeon for medication restart times post-surgery.
  5. 5Blood work, if required, will occur 7-10 days before surgery at specified labs.
  6. 6Cystoscopy patients do not require blood work.
  7. 7ECG may be requested prior to surgery at specified labs.
  8. 8Fast for 8 hours before surgery for solid food if general or regional anesthetic is used.
  9. 9Fast for 6 hours before surgery for liquids if general or regional anesthetic is used.
  10. 10No fasting required for local anesthetic procedures.
  11. 11Bring health card, list of all medications, list of all allergies, and CPAP device (if applicable) on day of surgery.
  12. 12Bring overnight bag if staying overnight.
  13. 13Arrange transportation home and someone to stay overnight if undergoing general or regional anesthetic.
  14. 14Cystoscopy patients do not require a ride and may drive themselves.
  15. 15Follow post-surgery instructions provided.
  16. 16Restart medications after surgery as confirmed with Urologist.
  17. 17Call office to arrange follow-up appointment.

Referral Process: To book an appointment with Dr. Rhee for urological services covered by OHIP, a referral from a physician practicing in Ontario is required. New patients are not accepted on a walk-in basis. If it has been over two years since the last appointment with the Urologist, a new referral will be required.
