Patient Instructions
  1. 1Visitors are welcome throughout the day except during a rest period between 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  2. 2Each resident can receive a permit for one family member to have unlimited free parking in the parking garage under the Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building. The application can be obtained from the unit clerk.
  3. 3Patients and visitors will receive a validation ticket to leave gated lots at QEII without paying. Tickets will be available at information desks and registration kiosks. Where kiosk registration isn’t necessary, rebate tickets will be given out by clerical staff in their respective clinics. At the QEII emergency departments, validation tickets will be provided to patients and visitors by security personnel.

  5. 5Patients requiring semi-private or private rooms for medical reasons always have priority; however, private or semi-private rooms may be available on request. When the booking clerk calls with your hospital admission date, let them know you are interested in a private or semi-private room. When you are admitted, be sure to have your private insurance card with you and let the admitting clerk know you have requested a private or semi-private room.
  6. 6To activate your television, just dial 2999 from your bedside telephone. A customer service representative is available every day between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to address any questions or concerns, receive cash payment and process your request.
  7. 7During your stay in hospital, you have the option of activating your bedside phone service. Dial 499 from your bedside telephone and a BellAliant representative will arrange to have your telephone service connected, transferred to another bed, or disconnected. When you are discharged remember to dial 499 to request that your phone be disconnected so that billing is stopped. If you forget to request your hospital phone disconnected before discharged to home, call 1-800-760-8969 Monday to Saturday between 8:15 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. to arrange disconnection.
  8. 8If you follow a special diet or have food-related allergies or sensitivities, let us know when you arrive. The procedure for ordering meals will be further discussed on admission by dietetic technicians. If you need help filling out your menu, or feel you or your family member may be unable fill out the menus daily, please talk to the dietetic technicians.
  9. 9Requests for spiritual care can be made by patients, family member and/or any member of the inter-disciplinary health care team. Call 902-473-4055 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For after hours urgent matters, call 902-473-2220 and ask for pager 2494.
  10. 10To determine eligibility for Camp Hill, veterans or families are encouraged to contact Veterans Affairs Canada at 1-866-522-2122.
  11. 11Individuals interested in being on the wait-list for placement in a provincial long-term care facility, including Camp Hill, are encouraged to contact Continuing Care at 1-800-225-7225.
  12. 12Referrals to music therapy are made through allied health care professionals (e.g physiotherapist, occupational therapist etc.) who are members of the care team and by the music therapist.

For Hip & Knee Arthritis Conservative Management and Knee Arthritis and Knee Replacement, a referral from the Orthopedic Assessment Clinic is needed, along with a completed referral form and updated X-rays.
