Patient Instructions
  1. 1Upper Abdomen (Gall bladder, Liver, Pancreas, Aorta, Kidneys): No eating for 8 hours (children 4 hours only), Water and meds allowed.
  2. 2Upper Abdomen & Pelvis: No eating for 8 hours. Full bladder required: Finish drinking 32 oz (1L) of fluids 1 hour before appointment. Do not go to the washroom from the time you start drinking.
  3. 3Pregnancy/Pelvis/Prostate ultrasound: Eat as usual. Full bladder required: Finish drinking 32 ounces (1 Litre) of fluids 1 hour before appointment. Do not go to the washroom from the time you start drinking. If at or greater than 5 months of pregnancy, 16 ounces (1/2 Litre) of fluids should be enough.
  4. 4Transrectal: Two hours prior to appointment, insert 1 Dulcolax suppository rectally.
  5. 5Face/Neck/Thyroid, Breast, Scrotum, Musculoskeletal, and Superficial Lumps: No preparation required.
