Patient Instructions
  1. 1Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for your ultrasound exam.
  2. 2Your doctor may instruct you not to eat or drink for as many as 12 hours before your ultrasound appointment.
  3. 3Clothing and jewelry in the area of your body that is to be examined will have to be removed for ultrasound.
  4. 4Before coming to your ultrasound appointment, make sure to read the patient preparation instructions.
  5. 5Women should always inform their doctor or X-ray technologist if there is any possibility that they are pregnant.
  6. 6Do not wear deodorant, talcum powder, or lotion under your arms or on your breasts on the day of the mammogram exam.
  7. 7Describe any breast symptoms or problems to the technologist performing the mammogram exam.
  8. 8If possible, obtain prior mammograms and make them available to the radiologist at the time of the current exam.
  9. 9Ask when your mammogram results will be available.
  10. 10Before the mammogram examination, you will be asked to remove all jewellery and clothing above the waist and you will be given a gown or loose-fitting material that opens in the front.
  11. 11Before coming to your mammogram appointment, make sure to read the patient preparation instructions.
  12. 12Doctors may ask the patient to fast (eat nothing) and even refrain from consuming liquids for a specific period before the CT scan.
  13. 13Patients will be asked about their allergy status and should report accurately, especially any history with contrast materials for CT scans.
  14. 14Nursing mothers who are concerned about contrast material in the breast milk could wait for 24 hours after contrast material injection before resuming breast-feeding.

Referral Information for CT Imaging

Referral Process: Referrals for CT services are sent to the Regina General Hospital and then forwarded to Prairie Skies Medical Imaging. For ultrasound and mammography, physician offices call for an appointment, providing exam type, urgency, patient health number, name, birthdate, referring physician name, and patient contact numbers. For mammography, previous mammogram details and routine/concern status are also required. For obstetrical ultrasound, LMP and type of obstetrical scan are needed. For other ultrasounds, the type of ultrasound and follow-up needs are requested. Physician offices then fax the completed requisition.
