Patient Profile:Patients requiring diagnostic imaging services such as X-rays, ultrasounds, mammograms, and bone densitometry, with both walk-in and appointment options.
Patient Instructions
  1. 1Arrive a few minutes early to register.
  2. 2Bring a requisition and valid health card for all tests.
  3. 3Use scent-free products when entering facilities.
  4. 4For Barium Studies: Nothing to eat or drink after 10pm the night before. Do not chew gum or smoke the morning of the study.
  5. 5For Mammography: Limit caffeine consumption 2 days prior. Do not use deodorant, powder, or moisturizer the day of the study.
  6. 6For Abdominal Ultrasound: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight. Do not chew gum the morning of the study.
  7. 7For Abdominal And Pelvic Ultrasound (combined): Nothing to eat after midnight. Do not chew gum the morning of the study. Drink 5 large glasses of water (1 litre) to be finished one (1) hour before the examination. DO NOT EMPTY YOUR BLADDER.
  8. 8For Pelvic Or Obstetrical Ultrasound Or IPS Ultrasound (part I): Drink 5 large glasses of water (1 litre) to be finished one (1) hour before the examination. DO NOT EMPTY YOUR BLADDER.
  9. 9For Portal Vein Ultrasound: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight. Do not chew gum the morning of the study.
  10. 10For Femoral Peripheral Arterial Ultrasound: Nothing to eat or drink four (4) hours before exam.
  11. 11For Bone Mineral Densitometry: Do not take any calcium supplements the day of the study. Reschedule if you have had DYE INJECTED, NUCLEAR MEDICINE or BARIUM TESTS in the past two (2) weeks. Remove any naval rings.
  12. 12For Ultrasound-Guided Breast Biopsy: Wear comfortable 2-piece clothing. Have someone available to drive you home after your procedure. Allow for up to 90 minutes for this test. Take medications as prescribed, except blood thinners (contact clinic if taking).
