Patient Instructions
  1. 1Please call the number for assistance due to Covid-19, no walk-ins.
  2. 2Use backup contraception until a semen analysis confirms zero sperm count after vasectomy.
  3. 3Apply an ice pack to reduce swelling after vasectomy.
  4. 4Wear supportive underwear after vasectomy.
  5. 5Avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activities for a few days after vasectomy.
  6. 6Refrain from sexual activity for about a week after vasectomy.
  7. 7For urethroplasty, diet will consist of 2 days of clear fluids, 2 days of full fluids, 2 days of pureed diet, and finally patient can eat solids on the other side of the cheek till the surgical site has healed.
  8. 8The first week after urethroplasty should not have hot or spicy food.
  9. 9The foley catheter will stay and not to be removed by anyone but the urologist or the urologist delegate.
  10. 10Foley care will be done if needed but usually the catheter would be attached to the thigh till the follow-up visit.
  11. 11After urethroplasty, start to drink clear fluids as soon as you can in the hospital.
  12. 12After urethroplasty, an average adult requires 2-3 litres of fluid/day.
  13. 13After urethroplasty, patients who receive buccal graft Urethroplasty can use salt water washes to help with some of the small amount of blood that can be on the wound edges.
  14. 14After urethroplasty, elevation of the scrotum is very important in cases of swelling/bruising.
  15. 15For male urinary incontinence, stopping bladder irritants like coffee, tea, soda, alcohol, and citrus juices can help.
  16. 16For male urinary incontinence, pelvic floor physiotherapy can help.
  17. 17For stress urinary incontinence, maintaining a healthy weight and lifestyle, as well as urinating often to keep your bladder empty can help.
  18. 18For stress urinary incontinence, quitting smoking, treating constipation, and stopping heavy lifting can help.
