  1. 1Arrive to your appointment 15-minutes early.
  2. 2Avoid eating on the side of the mouth with a temporary filling for a few hours.
  3. 3Avoid hard foods such as candy, nuts, and ice with a temporary filling.
  4. 4Brush and floss carefully around temporary fillings, pulling floss out to the side.
  5. 5Keep tongue away from temporary fillings.
  6. 6For post-procedure care: soft diet for first 48-hours, chew on other side of mouth, avoid hard/sticky foods, avoid foods that break into small pieces (raw vegetables, nuts, seeds, whole grains, popcorn).
  7. 7For post-procedure care: use soft bristle toothbrush, gentle brushing, flossing, and rinsing with warm saltwater (1/2 tsp of regular table salt in 8oz of warm water).
  8. 8Avoid using straws, spitting, vigorous swishing of fluids, and smoking after a major procedure.
