Patient and Visitor Experience for Greig Associates X-Ray Ultrasound & Mammography

Patient Age Range:Children over 2 for X-Ray (with considerations), women 40+ for Screening Mammography, all ages for other services as appropriate.
Patient Profile:Patients requiring diagnostic imaging services including X-Ray, Ultrasound, Mammography, Bone Densitometry, Breast Biopsy, and HyCoSy Ultrasound.
Patient Instructions
  1. 1Bring doctor's referral and BC Services Card.
  2. 2Shower on the day of appointment and refrain from wearing scented products for Ultrasound.
  3. 3Wear loose, comfortable clothing for exams.
  4. 4Do not eat or drink from 10pm the night before abdominal ultrasound.
  5. 5For pelvic/obstetric/renal ultrasound, drink water to fill bladder and do not urinate until after appointment.
  6. 6Do not apply deodorant, body powder, or glitter on underarms or breasts for Breast Ultrasound/Mammography.
  7. 7Do not take calcium supplements for at least 24 hours before Bone Densitometry.
  8. 8Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen for 7-10 days prior to Breast Biopsy.
  9. 9Bring a comfortable, supportive bra for after Breast Biopsy.
  10. 10Bring a friend or family member to drive home after Breast Biopsy (currently limited due to COVID-19).
  11. 11Take 1 Aleve and 2 Tylenol tablets (500mg each) 2 hours BEFORE HyCoSy Ultrasound.
  12. 12Abstain from intercourse from day 1 of period until after HyCoSy Ultrasound.

Referral Process: A requisition/referral from a doctor is required for all X-Ray, Ultrasound, Bone Densitometry, and Diagnostic Mammography exams. Screening Mammography does not require a doctor's referral for women aged 40+ without symptoms, history of breast cancer, implants, or recent breastfeeding.
How to Refer: Doctors can fax requisitions. Patients should call to book appointments for Ultrasound, Bone Densitometry, and Diagnostic Mammography. X-Ray is walk-in.
