Patient Instructions:
  • Radiography (X-Rays): No preparation needed.
  • Bone Densitometry: Wear elastic waist clothing, avoid metal buttons or buckles, must wear socks.
  • Pelvic, obstetrical or prostate ultrasound: Drink 6 full glasses of water 1 hour before exam. Do not empty bladder for 2 hours before exam. May eat normal meals.
  • Abdomen ultrasound (gallbladder, liver & pancreas): No food or fluids for 6 hours before exam. Low fat meals the day before. May take medication with water.
  • Abdomen & pelvic ultrasound (kidney & bladder): No food for 6 hours prior to exam, but drink 6 full glasses of water 1 hour before exam. Do not empty bladder for 2 hours before exam. Low fat meals the day before. May take medication with water.
  • Mammography: Do not wear deodorant or powder under arms or on breast area, wear pants or skirt.
