Erin Diagnostic Imaging

• No deodorant, powder or perfume for mammography.
• Wear a two piece outfit for mammography and bone density scans.
• Bring all previous mammography images for comparison.
• Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment.
• For Abdominal Ultrasound: Fast for 12 hours (no food or drink), take daily medications with small amount of water, avoid carbonated beverages and fried/fatty foods a day before.
• For Pregnancy or Pelvis Ultrasound: Full bladder required, drink 32 ounces (1 litre) of clear fluids 1 hour before, do not go to washroom. If 5 months pregnant or more, 16 ounces (½ litre) of fluids.
• For Transrectal Ultrasound: Eat as usual, take normal medications, empty bladder 90 minutes before, use one DULCOLAX SUPPOSITORY 2 hours before, drink 5 large glasses (40 ounces, 1.3 litres) of water over 30 minutes, finish water 1 hour before, do not go to washroom until after ultrasound. Bring PSA test results if available. PSA test must NOT be done within a week of digital exam or transrectal ultrasound.
• For Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound: Fast for 12 hours (no food or drink), take daily medications with water, avoid carbonated beverages and fried/fatty foods a day before. Full bladder required, drink 1 litre of water 1 hour before, do not void.
• For Pelvis Ultrasound (Uterus Bladder and Prostate): Full bladder required, drink 32 ounces (1 litre) of clear fluids 1 hour before, do not go to washroom.
• For Bone Densitometry Scan: Do not bring valuables, wear a hospital gown if asked, wear a two piece outfit with no metal or zippers, no calcium supplements 24 hours prior.
