Patient Instructions:
  • Have all medications ready for telephone calls with Physician.
  • Bring an up-to-date list of medications (name, dose, doses/day) and supplements; do not bring medication bottles.
  • If you have a blood pressure cuff, record 3 readings and average the last two, noting heart rate and blood pressure.
  • Turn off radio or TV during telephone encounters.
  • Use hearing assist device during telephone encounters if applicable.
  • Current height and weight would be useful.
  • Wear a mask (medical or homemade) while present in the clinic; no mask, no clinic appointment.
  • Do not attend if you have a chest infection, cold, or flu-like symptoms; call to reschedule.
  • If you have been out of the country or province within the last 2 weeks, your appointment will be rescheduled.
  • All patients will have their temperature recorded; if above 37.7 degrees Celsius, you will be sent home.
  • Only the patient involved in a clinic encounter is allowed in the clinic, unless for reasons of safety, language, or disability.
  • Having cardiac testing and seeing the cardiologist on the same day can no longer occur to reduce patient numbers.
  • Multiple cardiac testing on the same day is possible for patients living more than 45 minutes from Kingston, but you may be asked to leave between tests if there's a significant time gap.
  • Leave the clinic immediately after any encounter with a physician or cardiac technologist; follow-up will be arranged by telephone.
  • Check in upon arrival.
  • Bring your OHIP card for every visit.
  • Give 24 hours notice during the week and 48 hours on the weekend to cancel appointments, especially 48 hours for nuclear cardiac tests.
  • Arrive 5-10 minutes before your appointment for processing with the Receptionist.
