Referral Process: Referrals to the Special Care Unit can be made by physicians and mental health clinicians. Referrals to the Comprehensive Assessment Units (CAP) at Ledger House can be made by family physicians, pediatricians, and mental health clinicians. Referrals for outpatient services (Anscomb Program) are accepted from Mental Health Clinicians through the Ministry of Child & Family Development - Child & Youth Mental Health Clinics for South Island, and from physicians and mental health clinicians for Duncan, Central & North Island.
How to Refer: Contact Intake to discuss potential referral for Special Care Unit. For CAP, family physicians, pediatricians, and mental health clinicians may make a referral. For Anscomb, use the provided referral form.
Urgency Levels: Urgent admissions for Special Care Unit (SCU) for florid psychosis, active mania, suicidal with previous serious attempts, or requiring intensive 24-hour monitoring. Planned admissions for Children's and Youth Units.
