Patient Instructions:
  • Seven days before your injection, do not take any anti-inflammatory medicine (Aspirin, Motrin, Advil, Aleve or Naprosyn).
  • Tell your doctor if you are on any blood thinning medications prior to procedure.
  • 1-2 days before the procedure, drink 64 ounces of water per day.
  • The day of your injection, drink as much water as you can - preferably, 64 ounces of water.
  • You MUST have a driver bring you to and from your appointment on the day of your scheduled treatment.
  • Pick up prescribed medications (light sedative/muscle relaxant, pain reliever) at your pharmacy and bring them with you.
  • Rest, ice, and elevation are suggested for the first 24-48hrs after your PRP procedure.
  • For stem cell therapy, activity level will be modified for the next 6 weeks (light-moderate physical activity).
  • Near waterproof dressings can be removed 24hrs after procedure.
  • A small bandaid is suggested for all areas for 1-2 days.
  • No anti-inflammatory medications for a minimum (preferred) 6 weeks after procedure.
  • Rest for the first 24–48 hours, but do not lie sedentary.
  • Start Physical Therapy within a week post-procedure.
  • Steri-strips should fall off within a week; can be manually removed 7 days after treatment.
  • Call the doctor immediately if you experience any unbearable pain, bleeding, or signs of infection (fever, pus, strange odor, redness at the site, unusual body chills within 24-48 hours).
  • Expect varying degrees of pain in the first few days after the procedure, and treat with ice and prescribed medication if necessary. If severe pain lasts for more than a few days, contact your provider for advice.
  • Plan for someone to drive you home from the appointment and plan on relaxing for the remainder of the day after stem cell treatment.
  • Refrain from heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for 6 weeks after stem cell therapy.
