Norfolk General Hospital

• Visitors must sanitize their hands and pass COVID-19 self-screening questions prior to entering the hospital.
• Patients admitted to the hospital (inpatients) can only have TWO visitors at their bedside at a time.
• Patients attending ambulatory visits may have one person accompany them.
• Emergency Department Care Patients may have two visitors at their bedside at a time.
• Labour & Delivery patients may have two visitors at their bedside at a time.
• Surgical Day Care Patients: One designated support person is permitted to support the patient upon discharge.
• Palliative/end-of-life patients can have FOUR visitors at their bedside at a time.
• Visitors must follow all safety guidelines during their visit.
• Rest and sleep are important for patients; visits may need to be shortened if the patient is tired.
• Do not visit if feeling unwell or have symptoms such as cough, fever, runny nose, sore throat, diarrhea, vomiting, or a new rash.
• Visits may be interrupted for patient care.
• Regularly wash hands with soap and warm water, especially after eating, coughing, sneezing and using the washroom.
• Use hand sanitizer provided throughout the hospital.
• Practice physical distancing (2 metres/6 feet apart).
• Use public washroom(s) and not patient washrooms.
• Consult with clinical team to determine length of visit.
• Going for walks with the patient in the hallways is permitted.
• Visitors are not permitted for patients located on a unit in a COVID outbreak, if they have tested positive for COVID-19, if they have had close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19, if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, or if they have been outside of Canada in the last 14 days and told to isolate.
• Do not share food.
