Patient Instructions:

  • Be prepared to provide a urine sample during your appointment, especially for urinary symptoms or procedures.
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to routine clinic visits; some procedures require earlier arrival.
  • New patients need to complete medical history forms and questionnaires prior to initial evaluation.

  • For prostate biopsy: Hold all blood thinners (including aspirin for 7-10 days) prior to biopsy, if safe to do so. Use an enema at home prior to arrival. Arrive one hour prior to appointment for antibiotic pill. Provide a urine sample prior to procedure. Do not take anti-anxiety medications prior to signing surgical consent.
  • For vasectomy: Do not take anti-anxiety medications prior to signing surgical consent. An escort is recommended to drive you home after the procedure.
  • For cystoscopy: Do not take anti-anxiety medications prior to signing surgical consent.
  • For uroflow/post void residual: Come to clinic with a full bladder.
  • For penile ultrasound and/or penile injection training: Blood pressure must be normal at the time of the procedure.
