Dr. Cook is actively involved as a study nephrologist in the EUPHRATES clinical sepsis trial that incorporates extracorporeal therapy to treat critically ill patients with septic shock. Dr. Yanagida has a long-standing interest in research, spanning cancer biology and kidney disease. Her graduate studies focused on skin cancer biology, which she continued investigating at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center prior to medical school. During medical school, she completed a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Summer Medical Fellowship in Boulder, Colorado, where she studied mechanisms of cell death in osteosarcoma cells. Most recently, during her nephrology fellowship at Indiana University, she investigated pathways involved in sepsis-induced acute kidney injury.
