Instructions

  1. For abdominal ultrasound: If morning exam, do not eat or drink solids/liquids after midnight. If after 1 PM, fast 4-6 hours prior. Take medications with minimal water. Avoid fatty foods in the morning.
  2. For pelvic ultrasound: Drink 3 glasses (750 ml) of water or other liquids before the exam. Do not urinate; bladder must be full.
  3. For breast ultrasound: Patients over 35 must have a mammogram prior, unless for control or pregnancy/breastfeeding. Bring CD and report of mammogram/previous ultrasound.
