Patient Instructions
  1. 1Bring your health card and requisition form to your exam.
  2. 2Inform the office at time of booking if you are diabetic.
  3. 3Follow specific test preparation procedures for accurate results.
  4. 4For Ultrasound Abdomen AM appointments: Fat free dinner night before, nothing to eat or drink after midnight.
  5. 5For Ultrasound Abdomen PM appointments: Fat free breakfast before 9am then clear fluids (no milk products), nothing 2 hours prior to study, stomach must be empty, bladder must be full.
  6. 6For Ultrasound Abdomen and Pelvic together AM appointments: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, drink 40 oz. of water (5 eight oz. glasses or 1.5 L) one hour before study, do not void before the test.
  7. 7For Ultrasound Abdomen and Pelvic together PM appointments: Eat fat free breakfast, drink 40 oz. of fluid one hour before study, do not void before the test, stomach must be empty, bladder must be full.
  8. 8For All Pelvic Female or Male, Obstetrics (less than 22 weeks) Ultrasound: Drink 40oz. of water (5 eight oz. glasses or 1.5 L) one hour before study, do not void before the test, bladder must be full.
  9. 9For Pregnancy Greater than 22 weeks Ultrasound: Drink 24 oz. (3 eight oz. glasses or 1 L) of water one hour before study, do not void before the test, bladder must be full.
  10. 10For Male Prostate - Transrectal Ultrasound: Purchase fleet Enema from pharmacy, follow instructions, proceed with enema 2 hours prior to exam, drink 40 oz. of water one hour before study, do not void before study.
  11. 11For X-Ray Upper GI, BA Swallow: Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, do not smoke or chew gum.
  12. 12For Mammogram: On day of study, after shower, do not use deodorant or powder, wear a 2 piece outfit, avoid caffeine to reduce breast tenderness, bring previous mammogram done at other facility.
