The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine is committed to advancing understanding and improving patient outcomes through research, with a research office providing support for project design, ethics submissions, funding, grant proposals, and budget development. Current faculty research projects include regional anesthesia for enhanced cardiac surgical recovery, emotional intelligence in perioperative medicine, mechanical ventilation of ARDS, cardiorespiratory dynamics, perioperative outcomes, high spinal anesthesia in cardiac and liver resection surgery, airway management in critical care, concussion testing, postoperative delirium prediction, obstructive sleep apnea, and adjuvants to local anesthetics.
