How long will my first prenatal appointment be?

Getting to know you takes time! Depending on your needs and health history this appointment can take from 30-60 minutes. Filling out our prenatal questionnaire before your appointment can help make our time together more efficient.

How many prenatal appointments will I have?

We like to meet with you in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Visits are monthly after that until about 28-30 weeks then every 2 weeks until your last month of pregnancy. We see you weekly from 36 weeks until baby is born! Generally this works out to be about 12 visits. We will see you more often if there are complications that need more care.

I do not have a family doctor, who will look after baby when they are born?

If your conception partner has a family doctor it is always good to start there and ask early if their doctor would take on the care of baby. Otherwise please register with 811 or https://needafamilypractice.nshealth.ca/ as soon as possible for yourself, then baby when they come.
