Instructions

  1. For 24-Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring: Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Take all medications as usual. Eat and drink normally. Keep the recorder dry. Return the monitor after 24 hours.
  2. For Nuclear Cardiology (MIBI): No caffeine or decaffeinated drinks for 24 hours prior. Only plain water for 24 hours prior. Nothing to eat for 4 hours prior (2-hour fasting for diabetics is okay). Hold Nitrates, Hydralazine, Cialis/Viagra as specified. Continue beta blockers and calcium channel blockers unless walking on a treadmill (then hold for 48 hours). Wear comfortable shoes and pants (no dresses for females).
  3. For Holter/Loop Monitoring: Eat and drink normally. Take all medications as usual. Wear comfortable clothing (shirt removal needed for placement). If sensitive skin/allergies, inform technologist for appropriate patches. If patch becomes loose, replace with extra provided. If allergic reaction, remove patch/electrodes immediately and call office. Return monitor to office or via prepaid envelope.
